FARMHOUSE FILTER BROWN BETTY TEAPOTS
Brown Betty teapots got their name from the manganese brown glaze known as Rockingham glaze. The original teapots came from a brownish-red clay that was discovered in the Stoke-on-Trent area of Britain in 1695. This special clay seemed to retain heat better and so found use as the material for the teapot as early as the seventeenth century. The early pots were tall and shaped more like coffee pots, but in the nineteenth century the pots began to take on the more rounded shape of the modern Brown Betty. Although still called Brown Betty, these teapots, made by The London Pottery Company, now come in a variety of colors, and they all come with removable stainless filters.
LONDON POTTERY GLOBE TEAPOTS
These Rockingham Brown teapots, designed in the UK, do not have any filters.
