Apparently, Bath Olivers are the creation of Dr. William Oliver, an 18th century doctor who treated people with the salubrious spas from the city of Bath.Â
in the 1950s the Bath Oliver biscuit recipe passed to a Mr. James Fortt. In 1952, the Fortt family business was still baking 80,000 biscuits a day in Bath. The biscuits are no longer made in Bath, but they are still available and are excellent when eaten with wine and cheese, especially cheddar.
